MPlayer

Media Player (MPlayer) is a free, open-source application that can play various file formats on various computer systems. DVDs, Blu-rays, MKVs, and DivX/Xvids are all the video and audio formats supported by MPlayer. It does not require any codecs or external installation. The quality of playback is excellent, and the user interface is straightforward.

MPlayer contains an OSD (on-screen display) capability that displays information about the video's playback state. It is multilingual, compatible with 12 formats and subtitles. One of the most striking features of this application is that it can handle a large number of output drivers. It works for S11, Xv, DGA, OpenGL, SVGAlib, fbdev, AAlib, and DirectFB, but you can use GGI, SDlL (and all of its drivers), VESA, and some other lower-level drivers. Most of them allow you to enlarge the image to full screen.

MPlayer for Windows PC is a command line tool that works well in conjunction with SMPlayer (a graphical user interface (GUI) for the award-winning MPlayer). It may provide you quick access to all MPlayer capabilities as well as a configurable user interface, among other things, such as remembering your location in a movie, finding, subtitle search, Windows integration, and YouTubeTM video search and playing.
